Dear Booker T....
Letters to Booker T. from the Summer Interns

Yet another summer has come and gone quicker than you can say "We all scream for ice cream". Every summer we are lucky to have a host of volunteers, interns and summer employees who help to make the summer go along smoothly. This year we had three young ladies coming to us from the East Harlem School at Exodus House. Each summer, their Brooks Fellows program provides us with much needed help. High school students Dalia Jimenez and A'Nejah Daniels worked with our younger campers while Imani Vasser assisted for the second year in a row with the older group. Working alongside staff members Felice Delk and Latoya Gadsden, these interns got a chance to see what it takes to work in the child care field.
After the summer had come to a close, Booker T. received letters from them and the program organizer, Kathleen Alexander, who ensured us that she is already gearing up to send us their best and brightest for Summer Camp 2009.
A'Nejah wrote:
"I felt a sense of family while working there. I will always remember working there. The center has really helped me for working with kids in the future. I now know how to handle certain situations."
Dalia wrote:
"I enjoyed all the trips and activities we did. I felt welcome as soon as I walked through the door. The kids were wonderful and very intelligent. Again, I would like to thank you for giving me this great opportunity."
We wish A'Nejah, Dalia and Imani the very best this year in school. We would also like to thank summer staff members Olando Minott, our resident basketball star, who just started his first year of college at SUNY Potsdam and Courtney Baughn who is also hitting the books in college.
Thanks to the deligence of our staff and volunteers, this has been yet another successful summer!
