The Booker T. Washington Learning Center is dedicated to educating children, helping families, and building stronger communities in East Harlem, New York.
Founded by Rev. Leroy Ricksy, the Learning Center has served as a cornerstone of support for local families — providing a safe, nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. We believe that strong communities begin with strong families, and strong families begin with opportunity.
Educating Children
We provide after-school enrichment, STEM learning, and youth development programs that inspire curiosity and build essential skills for lifelong success.
Helping Families
We support parents and caregivers with resources, guidance, and a welcoming community network that strengthens the whole family.
Building Communities
We bring neighbors together through events, partnerships, and shared purpose — creating a stronger, more connected East Harlem.
Every program we offer, every child we serve, and every family we support reflects this mission. From summer camps to the Aspen Youth Experience and Girls on the Run, our work is rooted in the belief that every child deserves the chance to reach their full potential.
