報告摘要：

After a broad introduction into the physics of quantum and frustrated magnetism, I will attempt to review recent efforts in the search of quantum materials with novel properties, centered on a growing family of the rare-earth-based magnets and other related materials with strong spin-orbit-induced interactions. I will describe our efforts to understand the phase diagram of a model that combines paradigmatic geometrical frustration of spins on a triangular lattice and will also attempt to shed light on the properties of the so-called Kitaev materials.

報告人簡介：

Alexander Chernyshev教授于1995年在俄羅斯科學院獲得博士學位，1996-2002于加拿大皇後大學擔任博士後研究員，2002年加入加州大學爾灣分校物理與天文系擔任助理教授，2010年晉升為正教授。他目前是美國物理學會（APS）會士、APS 2022年度的傑出審稿人、物理學頂尖期刊Phys. Rev. Lett.凝聚态方向副編輯（DAE），并榮獲加州大學卓越教學獎。A. Chernyshev教授在量子磁性理論和強關聯電子體系取得了令人矚目的學術成就，曾在物理學頂尖綜述期刊Review of Modern Physics合作撰寫綜述論文。迄今為止累計發表論文近80篇，包括在Phys. Rev. Lett.、Phys. Rev. X、Nat. Commun.等高端雜志發表論文20餘篇。在國際會議和國際學術機構作邀請報告160餘次。
